Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Rolls Out Production on August 26 with 346km Range

As Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) took its first production unit of the much-awaited e Vitara electric SUV on August 26, 2025, the company’s Hansalpur manufacturing unit in Gujarat, this marks a historic milestone in India’s automotive industry. The company is now the first manufacturer in India to venture into the electric vehicle space, this marks a turning point in the Indian automotive industry.

The company’s e Vitara electric SUV is poised to hit the market on September 3, 2025, giving Maruti Suzuki significant growth opportunities in the newly opened market. The Hansalpur plant, serving as the primary production site of the e Vitara, positions Maruti Suzuki as a key player in the international electric vehicle market. Positioned to expro e Vitara to 100 plus counties, the plant will be instrumental in making India a manufacturing hub of Suzuki electric vehicles in the world.

The e Vitara offers users two battery options: a baseline 49 kWh LFP battery pack with a WLTP certified range of 346 km and a higher capacity 61 kWh option that offers 426 km of range. The former is equipped with a front-axle mounted motor that produces 143 horsepower and 192.5 Nm of torque. The latter provides an increase to 173 horsepower with the same torque output. All battery variants enable rapid DC fast charging to 80% capacity in 45 minutes. Home charging between 4.5 to 9 hours is dependent on battery size and charger type.

The e Vitara faces competition within the electric SUV market, directly competing with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and the MG ZS EV. Industry analysts expect the e Vitara is priced between 17 to 26 lakh rupees, making it a competing option in the premium SUV electric market.
